15.2 km from Corsica to Sardinia

15.2 kilometres, just under six hours

We swam the Strait of Bonifacio: from Corsica across to Sardinia. 15.2 kilometres, just under six hours in open water.

One of our founders swam it in the LUWA Apex Clear Vision. The others in the group wore the LUWA Apex Elite and the LUWA Apex Vision Pro.

What we were actually watching

Not the times. The fit.

Six hours is long enough for any weak point in a seal to show up. Salt water, swell, and no wall to stop at. Nobody in the group had to stop and readjust their goggles, and nobody came out of the water with red marks around the eyes.

That is the whole test. Over one hour, a hard seal and a soft one feel much the same. Over six, they do not — and it is the reason the Apex Clear Vision is the model we point people to for long, calm distances.

Why we write this down

We swim our own equipment before we sell it. Not in a lab, not in a marketing brief — in the water we actually train in. A crossing like this tells us more about a pair of goggles than any test bench.

Not sure which model fits how you swim? Two questions and you have your answer.
